Video: COVID-19 and the Booze Business

Overview

On May 15, 2020, the Market Research Council hosted a virtual event to shed light on what could be behind US sales of alcoholic beverages rising 55% in the week ending March 21, 2020, following the onset of stay-at-home and social distancing mandate.

Presenter Arthur Shapiro, an expert with 35 years in the alcohol industry, particularly spirits (liquor), discussed how the spirits industry has gone through many changes since the birth of the nation, with the business encountering wars, prohibited sales and consumption, economic upheaval, and now, the Coronavirus. The presentation looked at the industry from the standpoint of the overall and historic pressures that have shaped and will shape alcohol consumption in the future.

Thank you to all that attended and to Arthur for speaking.
